Maria Petrova, MD, JD, MPH is one of the leading experts in Europe with MSc degrees in both Medicine (Medical University, Sofia) and Law (Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, Law School). She has specialised in England, Germany, Austria, and France in fields such as “Medical Law”, “European Health Law”, “Health Mediation and Conflict Resolution in Health Care”, “Legal Aspects of Medical Malpractice”, and others.

Her work experience includes expert position at the National Ombudsman of Bulgaria, as well as legal consultant at non-profit organisations dedicated to patients’ rights, such as the National Patients Organisation, Bulgarian Patient Protection Association, Bulgarian Helsinki Committee, etc. She has also been providing independent expertise in pre-trial proceedings.

She is a legal consultant to “Partnership for Health” - a consultative body to the Council of Ministers.
